Hi all,
I'm looking to redo my Veeam server architecture and build a fresh new VBR server but maintain the jobs and data.
Question 1
Currently I have a physical VBR server that is also acting as repository, and another physical repository server. I'd like to move to a virtual VBR server and use the two physicals as repositories only, this will aid in future expansion plans. I'm not sure on the best method to achieve this whilst maintaining the data on my repositories and replicas. Any thoughts or articles that I can follow?
Question 2
In addition, I'd like to rename the two physical servers and join to a new AD domain. Is that something I should be before, after or as part of the Veeam migration. This post would suggest its a very easy process and I'm thinking I could do it during or after depending on the steps required to achieve my first question.
Should any further details need clarifying to fully answer either of the above please let me know and I will be happy to supply this information.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Replacing VBR - Maintain Backups & Replicas
Hi David,
The best way to achieve that is through the use of configuration backup.
0. Backup current configuration
1. Disable the jobs
2. Remove the repositories
3. Backup current configuration as well
4. Install fresh B&R on a VM
5. Import the configuration ("Migrate" option) from step 3
6. Remove B&R components from the old "All-in-one" physical server.
7. Rename the server and take off the domain, do the same for the standalone repository server
8. Add the repositories
9. Perform a re-scan
10. Re-map backup jobs and the backup copy jobs
11. Enable the jobs
12. Backup the configuration
If any assistance is required with the process I strongly suggest contacting our support team directly.
Thanks

Re: Replacing VBR - Maintain Backups & Replicas
Hi Fedor,
Thanks so much for the reply, that sounds pretty straight forward actually.
Another thing I just thought about....Enterprise Manager. That sits on my "all-in-one" physical server as well. I'd likely move that to the new VM as well. What would the procedure be here please?

Hi David,
Please, check here. Basically, no additional actions are required: just perform a clean installation of EM, as step 13
