Deploying HPE VME worker to 9.0.2 HPE VME fails

Post by janschulenburg »

Hi, I'm trying to deploy a new worker to a newly installed HPE VME cluster, but it gives a timeout and the worker is stuck into 'Preparing Resources'. It's a test environment, with Veeam B&R on 13.1.1.18 (community edition) and HPE VME on 9.0.2. What could be the case here?

Hi Jan,

As it's a technical issue, open a Support Case as noted in the forum rules and when you create a topic. Even Community Edition is eligible for "best-effort" support, but I would strongly advice that if you're doing a trial / test, use an Evaluation License or reproduce with your normal license installed and open a case.

We cannot meaningfully assist with troubleshooting over the forums, so a Support case is always the way to go.

It's hard to say without more details about the environment setup.
What kind of storage are you using? Is this an embedded lab or a physical host? Do you see Veeam's commonworker image created under Virtual Images? Do you see the worker VM get created/powered on? Do you see anything in the logs for this service? On a Windows VBR server, they're generally in "C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Plugins\HPEMORPHEUSVME". The PlatformSvc log might have more information on what's going to get you started. If you have a support contract, you can also open a support case.

Maybe it's an issue with the Veeam install itself. I've got the old plugin 13.1.0.271 also which is 1.5GB and the new plugin 13.2.0.160 which is 132MB :( When I see the history (removed and installed 13.2.0.160) it's failing on uploading image. The plugin folder also doesn't contain an subfolder for VME :(

I've tested it with the previous version 13.1 and that did work, so it's nothing with network, storage, whatsoever
