Failure after upgrade to 9.5.4

Hi All,

Yesterday I noticed there was an update available for 9.5 so I decided to install it and reboot. Now the backup fails on two particular machines which it was perfectly fine with before, ones a win xp machine and the others a linux box.

The windows machine gives me:

Code: Select all

 05/02/2019 09:01:57 :: Processing xxxxxx Error: Failed to call RPC function 'Vss.GetFileFromGADir': Error code: 0x80070003. 
Failed to invoke func [GetFileFromGADir]: The system cannot find the path specified.. 
Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\xxxxxxx.xxxxxxx.xx\xxxxx$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. 
Target file: [C:\Windows\{5f6c96d3-dddf-45b2-8a64-a810d85edd86}\BackupComponents.xml]. CopyFile() failed. Win32 error:The system cannot find the path specified. Code: 3.  
15 other VMs succeed as they did before the update.

Cant find anything useful with GetFileFromGADir on google....Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

It sounds like a known issue from the sticky topic:
#5: Application-aware processing for Windows XP guests
Symptoms: Backup of Windows XP SP1 VMs fails with the "Failed to call RPC function Vss.GetFileFromGADir" error.
Cause: Windows XP has been EOL for almost 4 years now ;)
Status: Investigating, as a workaround please disable application-aware processing for Windows XP guests.
Please open the support case and if possible use the workaround to temporarily solve this problem. Thanks!

Hi,
having the same Problem, has somebody or has Veeam found a solution for this "known issue" ?
disable application-aware processing for Windows XP guests is a temporary workarround but not a solution.
