Offsite Copy to Tape - How ?

Post by ascarislepis »

Hello,

we are doing local Disk Backups with Veeam 9.5 to a local Backup Target an Site 1. Next we use Backup Copy to copy these backups to an Offsite Backup Repository at Site 2.

That works well so far.

Now we would like to write the copied Backups from Site 2 to a Tape Drive local at Site 2.

I´ve been reading alot and playing around and ended up with a Dummy Backup Job in Veeam on Site 2. The Dummy Backup Job maps to the BackupFiles on the Offsite Copy Repository at Site 2.
The Tape Backup Job uses the Dummy Backup Job as Source. When I ran the Tape Job it wrote the Backup once to Tape.

Now I want to try the Tape Job again he says: 03.07.2018 16:28:23 :: No restore point for 03.07.2018 is available for virtual full backup, using previous restore point for 28.06.2018 -
But there are incrementals (vibs) for every day.

I did not find a solution for this problem until now.

Anyone got an Idea what I am doing wrong ?

Thank you
Dirk

Hi Ascaris and welcome to the community!

Can you share more details about the backup infrastructure?
If I get it right, you have a second Veeam backup server at Site 2 which is used for managing tape jobs?
Also, you can review existing discussion about Offsite Copy to Tape. Thanks!
