Veeam installation on DAS partition

Post by Vladimir_AUS »

Originally, we have Veeam installed in E:\Veeam location, wich is DAS attached to a server. VBR catalog is also located in E:\VBRCatalog location.
I want to format E: with REFS file system.
Going to disable jobs, stop all veeam services, copy e:\veeam and e:\vbrcatalog to another location, format E: with REFS, move e:\veeam and e:\vbrcatalog back to E: and start services and enable jobs.
Am I missing something?

Nope, that should do it. Just double check that the file share for VBRCatalog is still available after the reformat.

I guess you have to recreate your repository for the nice ReFS stuff like fast cloning....

I have logged the case ID# 02265931. They tell me to uninstall/re-install. Not sure why can't I copy files. All registry info is on C: drive.

If your repository was not detected as ReFS initially, the block clone api will probably not be used

Please review for more information:
veeam-backup-replication-f2/veeam-9-5-n ... 39290.html
veeam-backup-replication-f2/vbr-9-5-ref ... ml#p214672

However I don't think you need to reinstall the complete server, just remove and readd the repository

Quick an dirty:
- create temporary repo(sitory)
- remove backups from inventory
- assign temp repo to jobs
- delete repo on E:\
- stop veeam services
- backup E:\veeam and e:\vbrcatalog
- Format E:\ with ReFS
- restore E:\vbrcatalog
- start veeam services
- create new repo on E:\
- assign new repo to jobs
- restore files from e:\veeam to new repo
- scan new repo
- map backups to existing jobs

This should do the job :-)
