RPC issues GetSvcVersion
Hello,
I'm using VB&R 9.5.0.823 and from few days I have an issue during the backup, I receive this error:
Error: The RPC server is unavailable. RPC function call failed. Function name: [GetSvcVersion]. Target machine: [XX.XX.XX.XX].
Just to complete the picture:
1) XX.XX.XX.XX is a virtual machine, Windows 2008 R2 hosted on a ESXi, it's the backup proxy
2) the host is an ESXi 5.5 U2
3) the NAS is a Synology in the same subnet (no space issues)
4) the firewall on XX.XX.XX.XX is off
5) disk space on XX.XX.XX.XX is ok
6) I have already rebooted the XX.XX.XX.XX twice
7) I have checked all Veeam related services and all are up and running
8 ) the antivirus is on but it's the same of other machines that run Veeam with no issues
9) the backup fails after the step "Changed block tracking is enabled", after 2 mins from start
10) nothing is changed on XX.XX.XX.XX from months
Any suggestions is really appreciated.

Hi Andrea, please provide support case ID for this issue. Among first steps to try are restarting/re-installing the Veeam Data Mover service running on this proxy server.

Remove the Veeam Backup Transport component via Add/Remove Programs and deploy it again from the Backup Infrastructure tab of Veeam B&R console.

My backup server has show the error: The RPC server is unavailable. RPC function call failed. Function name: [GetSvcVersion]. Target machine: [IP]
Veeam Backup & Replication Version is 9.5 update 3a, I upgraded the version two weeks ago, but this error didn't happen before upgraded the version. This error happened in different Backup Job and server in few days, but when the Backup Job run [retry 1] can backup success. Can you tell me how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

Check that your PROXIES are online and not offline, Make sure the proxy service account credentials didn't change!

I had the same problem and the solution was to edit the host in the backup infrastructure tab, which, in fact, checks if there is any components to be redeployed on the host. My host was missing VeeamTransport component.

after I upgrade to Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus 11.0.1.1261,
I hit error
Access is Denied
RPC function call failed. Function name: {GetSvcVersion}. Target machine: [ip address:6160}.
I not able upgrade new version agent into my server and run the backup.
