Please review the Enterprise Manager user guide, the process of vSphere Web Client plug-in installation is described there in detail. Thanks.

Hello Volkan,

Does the account you use to connect to EM have sufficient permissions on that machine? What is a root@localhost?

Thank you!

Not sure it is possible, I believe you should be using a domain account to connect to EM machine/install the plug-in/log-in to the Web vSphere Client.

Nicolas, the account used to access vSphere web client and EM should be assigned one of the roles in Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager server.

Hi Alexander,

Thank's.
The Veeam server and the Vcenter Server are on a Workgroup (Not on a Active Directory Domain).
Is this may be the cause of the error ?

Hi Nicolas,

Yes, please join vCenter Server and your Veeam B&R server to the domain and install our plug-in one more time.

Should help!

[MERGED] v7 vSphere web client plugin with VCenter Appliance

Post by Marc.H »

Hi,

I have a new VCenter Appliance 5.5 running with local Postgre Database and local SSO configured. No Connection to AD.
My Veeam B&R Server is part of the Domain and I am able to install the VCenter Plugin in via the Enterprose Manager.

BUT: I do not see anything when logging into the Web client.

Regards
Marc

Hi Marc,

Integration with AD is required to pull data from Backup Enterprise Manager.

Thanks!

Hi Vitaly,

does that mean VCenter Appliance is only support when connected to AD - not in the standard not AD connected mode?
If that is true - is there any plan to change that as we try to get away from AD totally.

Marc

Marc, the account used to log in to vSphere Client should have sufficient rights on Enterprise Manager server to retrieve data. Not sure it is currently possible without using a domain account. But we are thinking on addressing this in the next releases.

Hello Addy,

Does the account you're logged into the vSphere Web Client has access permissions on the Backup Enterprise Manager server?

Thank you!

Hi Vitaliy,

Yes, it is a domain account, it is even a domain administrator account and I have added it the role portal administrator in Enterprise manager.

Ok, in this case I would suggest our support team taking a look at the debug log files. Can you please tell me your case number once you open it?

Andrey send me a Veeam.Backup.Enterprise.RestAPIService.exe.config file, that fixed it.
