Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Not in the nearest future, as the next storage to have special integration will be Nimble. Thanks.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
We try to add them as quick as possible but as stated in this thread it depends on a lot of things. Requests, alliances, mutual benefits,... If vendor X is the nr 1 requested but they say no we can't release it (legal reasons).pirx wrote:That is absolutely correct. But given that other backup programs support >20 storage vendors / array types, Veeam has to catch up fast. Maybe this is not so important for others but for us this currently is a show stopper. Our next backup tool renewal will be in 5 years so let's check this again then.
While others may have a lot of storage vendors as they added them quickly when they were added the integration in most cases is far from perfect with major issues which results in finger pointing and customers bouncing between vendor support when things go wrong. This is a different approach Veeam has taken, giving an improved integration and higher level of support regardless of where it may go wrong.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Looking at the StoreOnce support in Veeam I wouldn't call this integration perfect (missing replication support etc). But that's our problem, we have primary storage that has no array integration and backup storage (SO) without support of all features. I love Veeam and it seemed to be the right time now to walk away from our current solution but at the moment it seems that other vendors have better solutions for our environment (MSSQL / DB backup support is also an topic that is not on the plus side of Veeam, but that is off topic here).

[MERGED] Dell Compellent storage integration
Hi there,
it would be perfect if the Dell Compellent storage support would be integrated into B&R in order to be able to take backups from storage snapshots.
Are there any plans to do this?
Thanks & Best,
Markus

[MERGED] Feature Request: SAN Snapshot with FalconStor
We are currently running FalconStor NSS 8.0 SP5 with intention of upgrading to FreeStor once it becomes a more mature product. I would like to see SAN Snapshot integration with FalconStor as we currently have over 1PB of data residing behind our nodes. This integration would allow us to easily backup up servers that are 15TB+ in size without keeping the VMware snapshot in place for 8 to 12 hours. If you need assistance in getting FalconStor to work closely with you please let me know as I will be able to assist in move the partnership forward.
Thanks,
Ryan
Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Any chance the Dell Software Group buyout (http://software.dell.com/acquisitions/dsg.aspx) could change things? There are certainly many of us on Compellent (and more by the day due to basically being forced to move from Equallogic to Compellent).Vitaliy S. wrote:Another useful thread regarding integration with Dell > SAN snapshot support ...Compellent?

Re: [MERGED] EMC Unity Platform Storage Integration ETA
is there any news about EMC Unity Snapshot integration?mquayle wrote:Hi Guys,
I have a question mostly for the DEV team regarding the newly released EMC Unity platform. I was wondering if there is a timeline or ETA for support of this platform in regards to direct storage integration. The VNX and VNXe platforms are supported so I imagine Unity will be as well, I am just interested if anyone knows how long it will be. I have a deployment coming up that will most likely be using a Unity and Veeam B&R, storage integration sure would be nice to have.

++ Tegile ++
Veeam please add Tegile to the supported list of storage vendors. Having the ability to restore from storage snapshots is a critical component for successful DR.
Very happy with Tegile IntelliFlash.

So know we know that there will be IBM support in version 10 somewhere in 2017. Finally.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
I can't remember if I've posted here or not.
We use Tegile and I would love to see an integration. I've found the company fast to respond to any kind of support requests, so would theorize that they'd probably be all over a collaborative effort to have their product supported.

+1 For Tegile integration.
On a side note I spoke to Tegile at VMWorld and according to them they have done everything on their side and are ready as soon as Veeam is. I also spoke to Veeam and was told its market share driven so be prepared for a long wait.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Probably, but Tegile seems here to stay. They are doing nice things and have very good support. Snapshotting is one of their strong points, I really thought Veeam would pick them up way more quickly then nimble, but it's just the way it is for the moment I guess... Probably a channel thing...
So yes, +1 for Tegile

As an MSP that deals primarily with Dell and Nimble storage solutions, I am all for moving to fully support them.

+1 for Tegile. These arrays are awesome and would have hoped that Tegile had support prior to Nimble. Hopefully Tegile can be done after the 9.5 release.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
I have a question around this new VMAX offering. At VMworld I spoke with some EMC Partners as well and they told me that VPLEX is in most cases used to have a volume mirror across 2 datacenters with Active/Active access to them. As well they told me that VMAX new Flash offerings have "now" an own datacenter mirror (SRDF) that VPLEX is no longer needed for VMAX. Specifically they mentioned that the price of the VMAX-F/FX will be aggressive and bigger VNX/ExtremeIO customer that used VPLEX for datacenter mirroring will move to VMAX-F/FX with SRDF at next hardware refresh.
Even there were rumors that SRDF functionality will be native implemented in Unity "soon".
When I asked them about SnapShot usage with VPLEX it turned out that they do not use SnapShots with VPLEX at all and that it is a complicate configuration between vPLEX and VNX Series.
Can someone of you give us more feedback here? Do you have a different view? Any experience with SnapShot usage on vPLEX?

[MERGED] FEATURE REQUEST - Dell Compellent Storage Infrastru
Hi,
I have seen people posting on these forums before requesting support for Dell Compellent under Veeam Storage Infrastructure going back as far as 2013. It's now 2016 and with the imminent release of Backup and Replication 9.5 im dissappointed that we are only going to see support for Nimble added in addition to the already supported EMC, HP, IBM and NetApp.
The impression is that Veeam don't particularly like Dell!
Well, i feel its time to formally request this feature in the hope that Dell might not get overlooked for another 3 years particularly since they have now bought EMC!
Please, please, please can you include support for Dell Compellents as a long standing Veeam customer I would love to be able to do storage snapshots and not have any VMware overhead!
Thanks
Damian
